Textile Leadership Series 

NEW EVENT! Textile Leadership Series: Global Perspectives in the Textile Industry

The TATM Student Advisory Board (SAB) would like to invite all students to participate in the first ever Textile Leadership Series this November! Each semester, industry experts will serve on a panel for discussion of “textile leadership” within the textile and apparel industry. This year, the series will be entitled “Global Perspectives on the Textile Industry” and will focus on globalization’s impact on the supply chain, the United States industry, and students’ futures within the industry.


Current TATM Student Advisory Board (SAB) members

For the November forum, the speakers will include Mike Restaino, Vice President of Private Brands of Sourcing, Logistics, and Design Support for Belk Store Services, Mark Messura, Senior Vice President of Global Supply Chain Marketing at Cotton Incorporated, and William D. Harazin, Teaching Associate Professor at the NC State College of Textiles and Attorney at Law. Each speaker will give a brief presentation on their perspective on globalization and the textile industry, followed by a question and answer session with the attendees. The Forum will conclude with a networking event where students can speak with the panel members, other students, and faculty.

Refreshments will be provided!

Industry Advisory Board Speaker Biographies

Mike Restaino is the Vice President of Private Brands of Sourcing, Logistics and Design Support for Belk Store Services. His expertise is in product development, sourcing, international logistics, technical design, and color/fabric approval processes. He has previously served as the Vice President of Men’s Product Development and Senior Vice President of Private Brands at Goody’s Family Clothing and also worked in store management, corporate/marketing, and buying at JCPenney. Mr. Restaino obtained his B.S. in Economics and B.S. in Industrial Administration from Iowa State University.

Mark Messura, Chair of the Fashion and Textile Management Industry Advisory Board, is Senior Vice President Global Supply Chain Marketing, Cotton Incorporated.  Mark’s extensive experience with Cotton Incorporated includes expertise in the areas of global supply chain dynamics, strategic planning, corporate planning and program development, market research and analytics, and fiber economics.  Known as a creative and strategic leader, Mark is a frequent speaker at global textile and apparel industry seminars.  In addition, Mark’s global experiences include serving as an Officer with the International Forum for Cotton Promotion, an international promotion organization composed of 17 member organizations from 14 countries.  Outcomes from this role led to the development of promotion programs in foreign markets.  Mark holds degrees from The University of Michigan and Duke University, and has completed the Executive Education Program (Strategic Planning and Implementation) at The University of Michigan.

William D. Harazin established his own firm in 1988. Since then, the Law Office of William D. Harazin has been serving businesses both large and small by providing legal services to Triangle, National and International businesses. With Mr. Harazin's international experience and contacts the Firm has cultivated a growing international practice in the global market.
