World Impact
The College of Textiles has a tremendous impact on the world. Whether you encounter a faculty or staff or student on a humanitarian mission or you are working with a team of faculty trying to solve real world problems, the college has a broad impact. This page highlights four of the broader impacts our people have had on the world around us.
MorLove
This organization was started by one of our students Mor Aframian. Several containers containing tons of clothing have been sent to countries in need such as Uganda and Madagascar. Learn more about this thriving susatinable project at morlove.org.
Fighting Malaria
Dr. Marian McCord of the Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science Department worked on a project to make mosquito nets that shotened the life of mosquitos. Find out more at the NCSU News page.
Textile Products For People With Disabilities
Textile Products for People with Disabilities (TPPD) is a program which is a point of information and dissemination about textile products for people with disabilities in the United States. Through education, outreach, and economic development, we hope to improve the lives of people with disabilities within our communities through textile solutions. Economic Development
Dr. Tim Clapp along with a team of staff and students have been helping an entrprenuer in Tarboro NC with an idea for job creation. They have engaged a business owner there with the idea of using part of his existing facility for training the inner city youth on how to work hard, develop a marketing plan and how to run a small business.
Textile Connect
Drs. Nancy Cassill and Stacey Frederick have worked with the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness to develop a website that helps connect businesses within the state. It has also been useful for companies outside the state for finding appropriate sources and buyers for their goods. Learn more at www.textileconnect.com
